By Craig Potter
Eight days into the New Year, there's an explosion. Misty, a former acquaintance of Craig's girlfriend, is put off by Craig's rejection to her sexual advances. Misty leads the Feds to believe that Craig is the next domestic terrorist since Timothy McVeigh. After being chased, harassed and viciously interrogated by the ATF and FBI, Craig must fight for his freedom amongst the backwoods mentality that is typical of Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania.

Craig was thrown in jail, placed on house arrest and suffered a magnitude of harassment. The home he shared with his girlfriend, Tammy, was broken into and bugged by Federal Agents, as Craig was forced into unreasonable compliance to breeches of privacy. Having nothing else to go on, the Feds decided to hit Craig with an unregistered firearm charge. Now the nightmare has only just begun for what should have been a slap on the wrist!

Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned! No matter, it was all lies.

The wind bellowed its rage at the frail humans in its midst. With it came the sea, which since the dawn of time, has insulted and murdered men. The earth yielded to the waters and the works of men intended to reinforce the earth quickly failed. Homes vanished, whole neighborhoods shattered, lives changed forever before the terrible onslaught.

This was the fury of Hurricane Katrina in Plaquemines Parish, Louisiana, witnessed by Tony Ragas. Not a storm chaser looking for a thrill. He is a native of the small town of Buras, in the direct path of Katrina's eye, and hurricanes are a part of his job at the Bayou Grand de Liard Pumping Station. But Katrina was more than he and his fellow operators bargained for. His story begins as the furious storm pummels the parish before his eyes and continues into the massive recovery effort.

-Anthony Slide, noted film book reviewer and "dean of American film historians" in Classic Images December 1999

"[His poems] are delightful and insightful, covering many topics."
-Jean Peerenboom, Green Bay Press Gazette

This book is a collection of discrete but related works about inventions, and is itself an invention. The writer has searched for insight and a different way of seeing and describing certain things, but no doubt, many of the ideas will feel familiar, as another goal was to absorb many outside ideas, both old and new.

Consider this work like a contemporary live performance of old, old music, only the live performer makes some variations upon the old music, both in terms of what they choose to play and how they play it, seeking to capture the old but also show the sparkle of something new.

The Vietnam War claimed the lives of over 58,000 Americans, and the effects of "America's longest war" continue to be widespread. Based on the letters and remembrances of visitors to the "Virtual" Vietnam Veterans Memorial, The Remembered is a reflective dialogue that lets us see and feel how the Vietnam War changed families across America forever.

Known as "The Wall," the memorial in Washington DC attracts more than four million visitors annually, and many more have visited the Wall online. It's from this Virtual Wall that Elliott Levine weaves together different voices as they discuss war and loss, and how they should process the haunting list of so many names. Writing in the form of a play, Levine accomplishes the emotional highs and lows that cause us to stir and be humbled by great sacrifice and patriotism.

The Remembered provides a unique glimpse into the hearts of our generation, and our sense of grateful empathy and unbridled honor for the men and women who died in America's most contested war.
