In 1920, Ireland became two countries, Northern Ireland and the Irish Republic, both still being under British rule. The people in Northern Ireland are 2/3 Protestant and 1/3 Catholic, where in the Irish Republic, the people are 95% Catholic. Because of this, in Northern Ireland, the majority Protestants deprived the minority Catholics their political, economic and social rights. Then after the Catholic minorities unsuccessfully negotiated with the majority Protestants to receive their equal political, economic and social rights, the Catholic Irish Republican Army (IRA) was formed. The IRA is an underground army which uses many types of terrorism and violence to achieve their goals. Author Leonardo Guzzardo states: "I am proud to state because of my twin brother Giovanni Guzzardo and I having small roles in O'Larney, The "Tease" Marell Story, I refer to it as a cousin to my Sicilians Don't Cry and Sicilians Don't Cry II."

The dawn of the jet age unleashed a new breed of military pilots, who operated far beyond the range of their commanders in a never-ending search for adventure and a good time. You never saw these bad boys on an Air Force recruiting poster, but now you'll hear their stories While they met in bars all over the world to drink and share their tales, one place is special-Wake Island, a flyspeck on the vast South Pacific Ocean. Lying on the direct air route from Hawaii to Guam, this island became a historic crossroad for the world's aviators. Here, in a rusted-out little beachfront bar called Drifter's Reef, the best and most memorable anecdotes filled the air. This is hallowed ground; not only for MAC pilots, but also for all international pilots since the first days of Pan Am's flying boats. Author Jim Miller spent many years flying through Wake Island and faithfully recording the stories he heard. Heavy Jets is a fictional account of these tales, revealing the awe-inspiring achievements of generations of heavy-jet pilots from a time now faded. Good winds to you all.

The Wizard of Osborne takes place in a Basic Combat Training camp in Fort Knox during the harsh fall and winter of 1977, when Kentucky remained under a few feet of snow between November and March. Osborne lives in his own slow and distant world. His hanging lower lip makes him appear idiotic. Other soldiers ridicule him. They think of him as "touched by the spirits," or just dumb and lazy, while the rest of the men are convinced that Osborne is bucking for an early discharge. Although he takes pride in the American sense of fair play, he becomes dismayed at the ongoing bigotry and exclusion in the ranks. Osborne has a unique talent of making statuettes, busts, and reliefs with ice and snow of everything he sees. He makes ice-figures of his drill sergeants, his friends, birds on a chain link fence, and even a poodle to cheer up a fellow soldier. In the end, Osborne becomes the boot camp hero simply by building a grand scale monument with ice and snow, and saves the day.
