If the opportunity to reflect and reconsider the move did present itself in those early weeks of planning, I certainly ignored it. I steamrollered my way through preparations for the move to Tasmania, happy in my favourite role of problem solver. It wasn't until I walked into the strange kitchen, located the pantry, and stored the few bits I had picked up at the supermarket near the airport that I understood the enormity of my decision.

And I'd forgotten to buy milk.

The property in Tasmania was beautiful, isolated and I was alone. This was sink or swim stuff. It would last a year; a year in which I would be resentful, defiant and sometimes content.

This booklet has information not found in the big manuals, home improvement stores, the library, or the internet. The books found in the above named places have a lot of information about the entire subject. However, I could not find any information that talked you through the step by step process. This booklet will explain how to do each step and the potential problems you may find as you proceed with the job. The pictures in the book will let you identify the parts you need when you go to the store. A young lady with no experience in home repair read the book and said " this is explained so simple I could do it". The book gives the reader the benefit of forty years of "earn while you learn" experience. The booklet is sized to put in your pocket and take to the store or jobsite. The book also introduces a new product that the author has used in the past with great success. The product has just been developed and not found in stores at this time. However, order information is included in the book. In today's economy, we all must save all we can. By using this book you will save huge amounts of money.

Here are the best of the recipes and also where to find more home-made cleaning or greening recipes on-line. Solve stain removal problems with organic spices, oils, salt, baking soda, vegetables, herbs, cream of tartar, milk, vinegar, or rubbing alcohol, and create your own mouthwash, toothpaste, shampoo, and pesticides from zinc, vitamin tabs, plants, calcium, oils, minerals, or spices.

Shine hardwood floors and furniture with tea and linseed oil. Mix shampoos from tea or air freshener from lemons and baking soda.

You can clean almost anything with foods. Create your own household products, soaps, and shampoos. Place a tablespoon of salt into ¼ cup of baking soda. Soak your white cotton clothing in a solution of water, salt and baking soda.

Tired of commercial mouthwash? Rinse with a mouthwash you can make by mixing 4 drops of clove oil, 2 drops of myrrh, one tablet of zinc, and one tablet of folic acid (that you buy in a health-food store) in 16 ounces (473 mil.) of water. Let the tablets dissolve in the water and then shake well.

Develop your own toothpaste, shampoos wet or dry, for humans, dogs, or cats. Design shoes, pens, scratched DVD solutions, floor shiners, and cleaners.
