This book contains true crime investigations conducted by Private Investigators Clyde and Chester. The cases generally involve hard-working blue collar and white collar family men who have never been involved in criminal activity before; they just saw an easy opportunity to score some extra money and got greedy. The Private Investigator has no badge or gun, he only has his wits and experience in obtaining incriminating information from a suspect. Clyde and Chester worked over 300 criminal investigative cases together which resulted in the termination and conviction of many individuals,. The book contains 59 case investigations covering many different areas of business. The first three words of these investigators bible were "Get The Money."
The anonymous letter said "My husband just bought a new house, new furniture, two new cars, had money to invest in a bar. I don't know what he is doing at your plant to get money as he only makes $ 700.00 a month."
Chester Karrick, currently a Business Consultant, has a bachelor's degree in Accounting from Trinity University and a master's degree in Accounting from the University of Texas. This is first published book. He and his wife, Jo Ann, have one daughter and live in Friendswood, Texas
Since the subject of fraud fascinates me, I eagerly purchased "Clyde and Chester, The Investigators". I was not disappointed. The book is entertaining, informative and easy to read and understand. The author describes his experiences while investigating fraud and embezzlement cases all over the US. Each case was covered independently, making it convenient for the reader to start and stop his reading. Unfortunately, I couldn't put the book down. The stories were so entertaining that I read the book over a two-day period. They are written in a lively manner, and I could picture myself as an observer on the scene. There were numerous times when I laughed out loud at the predicaments that Clyde and Chester found themselves in. Other times I found myself fearing for their safety or wondering how they escaped being tossed into the local jail! The book covers people from all walks of life - from CEO's to ordinary workers. It leaves the reader astounded at the abundance and types of deception and greed that goes on. This is an excellent book for everyone, but auditors, accountants and people in the financial industry will find it especially interesting and useful. The book is erroneously described by the publisher as fiction. However, the stories ring true, and it definitely is a non-fiction work.
