Aaron Jones began writing poetry in the late 1980s. He was inspired by his brother Eddie’s band, Southern Acoustic, to compose his poems in the form of songs so they could be easily adapted to music. Aaron’s series of poetry collections is entitled Lyrics in Search of Music due the fact that Eddie could not write music to words already written.

Aaron’s poetry covers a wide range of topics, from the ups and downs of love to taking one step at a time to get one’s life back on track. He has created his poetry collection with the hope that at least one poem may have life breathed into it through the pairing of his lyrics with the right music. Each poem a lyrical feast waiting to be launched by the perfect melody.

“A unique journey towards mankind’s constant search for hope. It closely mirrors emotions that everyone experiences and can easily relate to …. The elements of great music lie within these pages waiting to be discovered!”

—Maleah Bagwell, LMSW

Another Day Above the Ground
Another day above the ground
Is another chance to make my way
Another day to wrong my right
Is one more day to right my wrong
Another day, another day to sing this song
(Above the, above the ground)
Is another chance to hang around
Above the, above the, above the ground
No chance like now when you’re above, above the ground
Another day above the ground
Is another chance to see the light
Another day to be born again
Is one more day to feel the Son
Another day, another day to get this done
(Above the, above the ground)
Is another chance to hang around
Above the, above the, above the ground
No chance like now when you’re above, above the ground
Another day above the ground
Is another chance to dream a little dream
Another day to get back up
Is one more day to set yourself apart
Another day, for a brand new start
(Above the, above the ground)
Is another chance to hang around
Above the, above the, above the ground
No chance like now when you’re above, above the ground
Another day above the ground
Is another chance to give a little more
Another day to take a little more
Is one more day to see you my friend
Another day, another day to, to begin again
(Above the, above the ground)
Is another chance to hang around
Above the, above the, above the ground
No chance like now when you’re above, above the ground
Another day above the ground
Is another chance to seek and be found
Another day to let it all go
Is one more day to fight the fight
Another day to say, to say goodnight
(Above the, above the ground)
Welcome to another day above the ground

Lies and Truths
A lie is a lie no matter how you say it
The truth is the truth that’s how you should play it
A lie is a lie no matter how you convey it
The truth is the truth no matter how you weight it
What’s the point of lying?
You’ll only end up crying
We never get away with it
You’ll only get deeper in it
You know the truth shall set you free
No matter how you slice it from A to Z
The truth you can always trust
Even after you have turned to dust
A lie is a lie no matter how you say it
The truth is the truth that’s how you should play it
A lie is a lie no matter how you convey it
The truth is the truth no matter how you weight it
One lie always leads to another
Your soul it starts to smother
A lie can lead you astray
In the end we all have to pay
Truth, you can’t go wrong
Truth, helped me write this song
Truth is the only way to go
This is something everyone should know

Givers of Hope and Care
Givers of hope and care
They are, they are everywhere
Little Angels to brighten your day
To give you a push when you have lost your way
Will never know when they will show
Helps you out of a jam
And then away they go
Givers of hope and care
They are, they are everywhere
Will try to give you words of advice
Just never know what they’ve had to sacrifice
But it does not matter to them
They’ll help you through the thick
And also through the thin
Givers of hope and care
They are, they are everywhere
They will always try to help you see
All the good in you, and, yes the good in me
Yes, they will travel to the ends
No matter how forgone
Their love it does transcend
Givers of hope and care
They are, they are everywhere
Picks you up after the aftermath
Will shine a light on, on your darken path
You know, you could even be one
You may just never, never know
Until the day is done
Givers of hope and care
They are, they are everywhere
Givers of hope and care
They are, they are everywhere
Little Angels to brighten your day
To give you a push when you have lost your way
Will never know when they will show
Helps you out of a jam
And then away they go, and away they go

In My Father’s House
In my Father’s house
In my Father’s house
Yes, everyone is the same
And then no one is alike
And everyone will know your name
They’ll be no guilt, envy or blame
In my Father’s house

In my Father’s house
Everyone is invited
No one will be turned away
The lost will be reunited
All the blind will now be sighted
In my Father’s house

In my Father’s house
You will be alive again
And no one is rich or poor
Far from the evil one’s domain
All we’ll need are words to sustain
In my Father’s house

In my Father’s house
You will shine inside the light
No need for windows or doors
There is no day or even night
Make sure you except your invite
To my Father’s house

In my Father’s house
No time for sadness or pain
After all is said and done
Love will be the thing to remain
All the unknown will be explained

Aaron Jones lives in Madison, Alabama. He previously published the first two volumes of lyrics: Lyrics in Search of Music and Lyrics in Search of Music: Volume II—Lyrics for the Music Inside Your Head.
